Liz Truss got 81,326 votes, compared to Rishi Sunak’s 60,399 votes with a high turnout of 82.6 percent in the election, with 654 rejected votes from the total number of 172,437 eligible Tory voters.

Rishi Sunak on Monday called on members of the Conservative Party to unite under the leadership of newly appointed British Prime Minister Liz Truss, and work with him as Liz Truss defeated Boris Johnson in a leadership contest. And Rishi Sunak said, help the country in this difficult time.

Truss, 47, become the third female Prime Minister in Britain after Margaret Thatcher & Theresa May.

The BBC conducted an interview with him before the results were announced, in which Sunak said he plans to remain as Member of Parliament and will continue to work for his constituents in Richmond, Yorkshire. And they said that their struggle would continue.

India expected Rishi Sunak to become the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. However, Truss is the new Prime Minister of the UK and India congratulates Truss on her new responsibility and hopes that India and the UK will reach new heights of solidarity.
