BCCI President: Can Sourav Ganguly be removed from the post of BCCI President?

BCCI President: Is Sourav Ganguly’s leaf going to be cut? These questions are arising because, quoting sources, the news is that preparations are on to make Jay Shah as BCCI President.

BCCI President: These questions started to be raised when the Supreme Court has given the green signal to amend the BCCI law. With this, Sourav Ganguly and Jay Shah can be a part of BCCI till 2025. But the news is that now preparations are going on to make Jay Shah the Board President. He is currently working in the role of BCCI Secretary.

In 2019, former Indian team captain Sourav Ganguly was made the board president. At the same time, Jay Shah, former joint secretary of Gujarat Cricket Association and son of the country’s Home Minister Amit Shah, was made BCCI secretary. People are seeing the decision of the Supreme Court to allow amendments to the BCCI law with Jay Shah becoming the Board President.

People are questioning the board as to why the Supreme Court allowed amendments to the BCCI’s law when their tenure was about to end recently. Political associations with some former players are raising these questions.

Preparing for Election

After the decision of the Supreme Court, now preparations are on for elections in BCCI. The board is going to convene its Annual General Meeting (AGM) soon. After deciding to amend the constitution, notices for fresh elections will be issued to the state associations. The current BCCI officials will complete their three-year term this month. For this reason re-elections will be held.

A state association member said, “It is high time Shah will take over the reins of the Board of Control for Cricket in India and all associations are ready to support him.” However, the question is also that if Jay Shah becomes the Board President, what will happen to Sourav Ganguly?
